FALL TURKEY QUESTIONNAIRES DUE
Hunters who drew a Fall Turkey tag this year are reminded to turn
in their turkey questionnaire by December 1, 2008.
“This is the first year the Nevada Department of Wildlife
(NDOW) has required a questionnaire be turned in for turkey,”
said Shawn Espinosa, upland game biologist at NDOW. “The spring
hunt was our first attempt at collecting the questionnaires and
the number of returns were only around 58 percent. We would like
to see that above 80 percent.” Espinosa reports the information
collected is used to generate future tag quotas.
The properly completed questionnaire must be completed and received
by Wildlife Administrative Services by 5 p.m. on December 1 or the
hunter risks being denied all turkey tags for one year. The questionnaire,
which is sent to hunters attached to the actual tags, can also be
filled out online at www.huntnevada.com.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) protects, restores and
manages fish and wildlife, promotes fishing, hunting, and boating
safety. NDOW’s wildlife and habitat conservation efforts are
primarily funded by sportsmen’s license and conservation fees
and a federal surcharge on hunting and fishing gear. Support wildlife
and habitat conservation in Nevada by purchasing a hunting, fishing,
or combination license. For more information, visit www.ndow.org.
