BEGINNING UPLAND GAME BIRD WORKSHOP

Hunting upland game birds like quail or chukar can be frustrating for new hunters or for experienced hunters who are new to the desert environment. So the Nevada Department of Wildlife will host an upland game bird hunting workshop designed to help members of both groups get started off in the right direction. The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 25 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Clark County Shooting Park education center, 11357 Decatur Blvd in Las Vegas.

NDOW staff will provide tips on locating birds and techniques for putting them in your cooler once you find them. Game wardens will also be on hand to answer any legal questions participants may have.

“Our goal is to provide less-experienced hunters information that will help them have a successful experience,” said Martin Olson, NDOW hunter education coordinator.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) protects, restores and manages fish and wildlife, promotes fishing, hunting, and boating safety. NDOW’s wildlife and habitat conservation efforts are primarily funded by sportsmen’s license and conservation fees and a Federal surcharge on hunting and fishing gear. Support wildlife and habitat conservation in Nevada by purchasing a hunting, fishing, or combination license. For more information, visit www.ndow.org.
