BEGINNER’S FISHING CLINIC
The Nevada Department of Wildlife will hold a fishing clinic for people of all ages beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30 at Sunset Park Pond, generally located at Sunset Rd. and Eastern Ave. There is no charge for the class, which will cover such fishing basics as casting skills, fish identification, bait and lure selection, and knot tying. The instruction period will end with class participants putting their new fishing skills to the test. Participants 12 years of age and older must have a Nevada fishing license, either an annual license with a trout stamp or a one-day license. A trout stamp is not required on the short-term license. Registration for the class begins 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25. For more information or to register contact Ivy Santee at (702) 486-5127 x 3503.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) protects, restores and manages fish and wildlife, and promotes fishing, hunting, and boating safety. NDOW’s wildlife and habitat conservation efforts are primarily funded by sportsmen’s license and conservation fees and a federal surcharge on hunting and fishing gear. Support wildlife and habitat conservation in Nevada by purchasing a hunting, fishing, or combination license. For more information, visit www.ndow.org.
