BIG GAME TAG DRAW RESULTS AVAILABLE THURSDAY MAY 27
The Nevada Department of Wildlife has announced that Nevada’s big game tag draw results will be posted by 5 p.m. Thursday May 27 at www.huntnevada.com website. Official results and tags will be mailed to addresses on record by June 18.
Hunters must check that there are sufficient funds in their credit card accounts so that approved tags can clear. If credit cards have been cancelled, or numbers and addresses, (including zip codes) have changed, contact the Wildlife Administrative Services Office (WASO) to inform them of the changes. WASO can be reached 8-5 Monday through Friday at 1-800-576-1020, or in Fallon at 1-775-423-7577.
The computerized random tag draw occurred at the Wildlife Administrative Services Office in Fallon on Tuesday, May 25. A total of 150,819 applications were received, about 1,000 fewer than last year. A total of 39,247 resident hunters and 15,676 nonresident hunters submitted applications.
The state board of Wildlife Commissioners approved 23,382 big game tags during the Commission meeting May 14-15 in Reno.
Nevada’s big game tag draw is one of the most competitive in the country with state-wide first-choice draw odds in 2009 of about 4 to 1 for the resident antlered mule deer any legal weapon hunt, and about 40 to 1 for the resident bighorn sheep hunt.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) protects, restores and manages fish and wildlife, promotes fishing, hunting, and boating safety. NDOW’s wildlife and habitat conservation efforts are primarily funded by sportsmen’s license and conservation fees and a federal surcharge on hunting and fishing gear. Support wildlife and habitat conservation in Nevada by purchasing a hunting, fishing, or combination license. For more information, visit www.ndow.org.
