INTRODUCTION TO BOWFISHING
Anglers interested in learning more about the growing sport of bowfishing are invited to attend an Introductory Bowfishing class Saturday, June 25 from 9 a.m. to noon at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City.
"This workshop will provide participants with a practical introduction to this unique outdoor pursuit that combines archery with angling," said Chris Cheff, Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) archery education coordinator.
Taught by NDOW staff, the bowfishing workshop is designed to accommodate individuals 10 years of age or older who have some previous archery experience. The workshop will include a 45-minute instruction period, which will include a discussion of safety rules and a review of basic shooting technique, followed by a hands-on shooting experience. Participants will have the chance to try their hand with a bow and arrow while shooting at foam carp targets that have been submerged in the park pond.
Registration begins Wednesday, June 15. Space is limited. For more information or to register call Chris Cheff, 702-486-5127 x 3504.
