A PASSION FOR FISHING

When asked about fishing, do you describe yourself as one who not only loves to fish but is also passionate about fishing? Do you get a thrill when showing a young person or a friend how to cast a line or bait a hook? If this sounds like you, then the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) would like to invite you to join the Angler Education program and introduce non-anglers to fishing.

Now in its 15th year, the Angler Education program provides fishing clinics at locations throughout Southern Nevada. During these clinics instructors teach children and adults about the joys as well as the particulars of fishing. Volunteer instructors help with clinics tailored to a variety of organizations such as school groups or Boy and Girl Scout troops. NDOW also offers free clinics for the public.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer in the Angler Education program is invited to attend a new volunteer meeting and training session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12 at the NDOW Las Vegas office, 4747 Vegas Drive. For more information contact Ivy Santee at 486-5127 x 3503 Mon. – Fri. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) protects, restores and manages fish and wildlife, and promotes fishing, hunting, and boating safety. NDOW’s wildlife and habitat conservation efforts are primarily funded by sportsmen’s license and conservation fees and a federal surcharge on hunting and fishing gear. Support wildlife and habitat conservation in Nevada by purchasing a hunting, fishing, or combination license. For more information, visit www.ndow.org.
