ONE-FLY TOURNAMENT WILL TEST FISHING
SKILLS
Do you enjoy fly fishing, but don’t know
how good you are? Here’s a chance to hone your fly-fishing
skills and have a great time doing it. On Saturday, Sept. 20, there
will be a one-fly fishing tournament at Spring Valley State Park
located just east of Pioche, NV. The cost to enter the tournament
is $25 and each entrant must submit 2 identical flies to the judges.
One of those flies will be the one you use in the contest. Participants
will only be able to use the one fly through-out the contest, which
starts at 8 a.m. and concludes at noon. The top prizes will be a
two-man Pelican pontoon boat and a one man pontoon boat. Several
fly fishing rods and a host of other prizes also will be up for
grabs. For more information and registration contact Ranger Ben
Johnson by phone (775) 962-5103 or via email (echocanyon@lcturbonet.com).
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) protects, restores and
manages fish and wildlife, promotes fishing, hunting, and boating
safety. NDOW’s wildlife and habitat conservation efforts are
primarily funded by sportsmen’s license and conservation fees
and a federal surcharge on hunting and fishing gear. Support wildlife
and habitat conservation in Nevada by purchasing a hunting, fishing,
or combination license. For more information, visit www.ndow.org.
