COMMISSION TO ELECT OFFICERS AT MEETING IN FALLON
The Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners (Commission) will elect commission officers, set seasons and bag limits for migratory waterfowl and hear about setting a black bear hunting season at its August 13-14 meeting in Fallon.
The meeting will be held at the Churchill County Commission Chambers, located at 155 Taylor St., and will start at 1 p.m. on Friday and at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. The meeting is open to the public and everyone is invited to attend.
The Commission will also be asked to approve 10 projects to be financed by Upland Game Stamp funds by Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) staff. NDOW is also requesting that the Commission approve its recommendations to modify the following 2010-2011 Predator Management Projects funded by the Heritage Trust Fund: Projects #10-23, #10-26, and #10-27; and 2011 Heritage Projects #11-19, #11-20 and #11-26.
Several reports will be presented to the NBWC including a report by the Finance Committee regarding recommendations for the Department’s biennial budget. Other reports scheduled for the meeting include presentations on the 2010 big game tag draw, the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies’ annual conference, laws regarding harassment of public officials, a litigation report and the County Advisory Boards to Manage Wildlife reports on mule deer efforts in each county.
Other items include Commission General Regulation (CGR) 389 prohibiting a person from interfering with the use of a guzzler or other water development; providing an exception, and CGR 389 a regulation that would allow nonresidents to apply for big game tags in both the 1231 restricted guided hunt and during the regular big game tag draw.
Waterfowl seasons will be set Saturday morning, followed by a report of the Wildlife Damage Management Committee on its plans for predator management proposals for FY 2011. Following that, the Commission will hear a number of reports including the potential for initiating a black bear hunting season.
Members of the public who would like to address the Commission on a topic not on the agenda may do so during the public comment period near the beginning of each meeting.
People wishing to address the commission should complete a speaker’s card and present it to the recording secretary.
