BOARD OF WILDLIFE COMMISSION COMMITTEE REVIEWS DRAFT TRAPPING REGULATIONS

The Nevada Board of Wildlife Commission’s Trapping Regulation Committee will hold two scoping meetings, one in Las Vegas and one in Reno, to solicit public input on draft trapping regulations. The first meeting will take place in Las Vegas on Monday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. at the Nevada States Parks Building  at 4747 Vegas Drive.  The Reno meeting will take place two days later on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) Headquarters at 1100 Valley Road.

Senate Bill 226, passed in the 2011 Session of the Nevada State Legislature, requires the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commission to adopt regulations governing the trapping of furbearing mammals in a residential area of a county whose population is 100,000 or more. However, this scoping process is open to everyone. The public comment on the regulation language received in these Trapping Regulation committee meetings will be used to adjust the language.  Then, the Trapping Committee will bring their recommendation to the full Commission for consideration. The public is welcome to suggest changes to the draft regulation electronically or in person. Draft language is available for review on the Nevada Department of Wildlife’s website at www.ndow.org.

Those unable to attend either meeting can submit public comment on this regulation via email to jtrendle@ndow.org. The subject line must read “Trapping Comments” and include commenter’s name, address and organization represented if any. These emails will be public record.
