WILDLIFE COMMISSION TO MEET IN LAS VEGAS

The Nevada State Board of Wildlife Commissioners will meet in Las Vegas February 4-5 at the Clark County Government Center located at 500 S. Grand Central Pkwy.

On the commission's agenda are proposed regulations that would govern the 2011 and 2012 black bear hunting seasons as well as proposed dates for big game hunting seasons during the same time period. The Commission Meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Commission members also will consider the adoption of seasons and quotas for the 2011 Silver State and Partnership in Wildlife tags. Silver State Tag holders may hunt statewide in units where a season has been established by the Wildlife Commission for the particular species listed on the tag. Only those areas closed to hunting in the Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 504.340) will be off limits. The proposed Silver State Tag quota is a total of seven tags: two for any mule deer, two for any pronghorn antelope, two for an elk with at least one antler, and one desert bighorn sheep (Nelson Bighorn).

Also on the agenda are informational reports about the NDOW Big Game Division computer modeling efforts and possible commission action that could establish a management bull elk hunt. A meeting agenda and all support materials can be found online at www.ndow.org.

In preparation for the Wildlife Commission Meeting the Clark County Advisory Board to Manage Wildlife will meet Tuesday, Feb. 1 at the NDOW Las Vegas office, 4747 Vegas Drive. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

Members of the public who would like to address the Commission on a topic not on the agenda may do so during the public comment period near the beginning of each meeting. People wishing to address the commission should complete a speaker's card and present it to the recording secretary.
