CONSTRUCTION UPDATE FOR JARBIDGE CANYON
ROAD
Wells, Nev. - Phase IV, the final phase of Jarbidge Canyon Project
construction, will resume on June 14, 2009. Construction will occur
throughout the months of June and July, and end on or about August
8, 2009. Scheduled construction work includes:
- Realignment of several road segments of the road north of Jarbidge;
- Stabilizing the river bank in areas along the road that are
highly prone to erosion and failure during flood events; and,
- Repairing segments of the Elko Grade road.
Construction activity will cause potentially significant travel
delays along the road to insure project safety requirements are
met. Delays can be expected to be similar to those experienced during
implementation of the construction program in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
Construction schedule:
- Work hours will occur between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Travel delays can occur between approximately 8 a.m.
and 6 p.m., when construction is occurring.
- The longest delays will last up to 5 hours.
- When construction work requires long travel delays,
the road will be opened for at least 45 minutes, between approximately
12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., to allow delayed traffic access through
the construction zone.
If an emergency occurs during a construction-related travel delay,
work will cease and the road will be opened as soon as safe travel
can be assured. Construction-related travel delays will also be
minimized to accommodate any special planned Jarbidge community
events.
