This page provides you with the basic information you should know before registering or titling your boat in Nevada. Click on a link below to go to an area of interest, or simply scroll down the page.

It is a federal law that you register your watercraft in the state of primary use. Carry your registration with you on your boat.

To register your new or untitled watercraft, you will need to follow the steps below. Please be sure to have the following information at hand:
Proof of Ownership
Present proof of ownership (original bill of sale or subsequent bills of sale).
Sales Tax
Present proof that a sales tax has been paid. Proof of sales tax is not required on a casual sale.

MSO
Present the original Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO).
- If the original MSO is not available, or the watercraft is coming from a non title state, you must bring the the watercraft to a Nevada Department of Wildlife office for inspection. Inspections are not made in Carson City.
- If you have an MSO, but the HIN number is hand written, you must bring the the watercraft to a Nevada Department of Wildlife office for inspection. Inspections are not made in Carson City.
Previous State Record / Registration
If coming from a non-title state, the previous state registration, or certified copy of the state record must be provided.
Social Security Number
Social Security number must be provided.
Fees
Pay the required fees. Must be in check or cash. Debit or credit cards are NOT accepted.
No mail transactions
This transaction cannot be completed through the mail. Check for the nearest NDOW office.
OUT-OF-STATE TITLED WATERCRAFT
To register an out-of-state titled watercraft, you will need to complete the following steps:
Certificate of Ownership
Present the properly endorsed out-of-state Certificate of Ownership (Title) to an office of the Department of Wildlife. A watercraft inspection may be necessary, please contact the nearest Nevada Department of Wildlife office for more information. Check for the nearest NDOW office.
Sales Tax
Present proof that a sales tax has been paid, if applicable (dealer sale, broker sale, repossession). Proof of sales tax is not required on a casual sale.
