Boulder City Urban Pond
Hit the Boulder City Pond very early New Year’s morning. Could have slept in. Fish were present, but very unresponsive until the sun hit the water & warmed it up a bit. Caught a couple on green power bait between 8 AM – 9:30 or so, then they began hitting well on small Thomas buoyant spoons and floating trout worms fished about 18” or so behind a sinker. Ended up catching & releasing about a dozen. Most folks fishing bait on the northwest side had moderate success; a couple of guys with pink floating worms did very, very well. Majority of fish were thankfully released.

On Saturday, 1/2, similar scenario. Most fish caught between 8:30 AM – 10 AM or so on northwest side of pond. Again, a few on bait, majority on spoons & floating worms. Actually caught a couple on a standard 1/16th oz. crappie jig with green twisty tail. Left around 11 AM after fishing slowed. Released 12 – 14 stockers. Fun morning. - Ron Hawkin

Boulder City Urban Pond
I went to boulder city pond around 12:00 on tuesday and caught 2 trout in less than 2 hours and the stocking truck showed around 4:45. Most of the trout that came out of the pipe were 9-10 inches with an occasional 12 - 13 incher in there. wednesday i went out again and caught 2 more on power worms and spoons tipped with small peices of pworm for scent. Kinda slow but they are out there. - Jordan

Sunnyside
I went for a day of fishing up to Sunnyside on Friday after Thanksgiving.  Haymeadow, Coldsprings, and Adams all have solid ice over them.  When I was there it was probably still one inch thick and it was mid day around 2pm.  There are plenty of boulders and rocks thrown on the ice to let you know they are iced over.  There was free water at Dacey, "don't know why??"  and there was about 20 feet of ice from the shore out.  In a float tube fish were biting.  Surprisingly enough Large mouth bass were plentiful but only 6-10" long.  Trout were slow and reluctant to bite plus all the bass picked up a fly immediately.  I was among five other float tubers and all were catching bass primarily with a trout here and there and some were just the size of planters.  - Jason Delgado

11/21/09
Haymeadow Reservoir
A friend, Brian and I fished Haymeadow reservoir (WKWMA) on Saturday 11-21-09. Weather was nice with a little wind. There was some ice along the lakes' edge. Fishing was slow, in six hours we landed a total of 14 fish; two of which were bass. Six of the trout were over 15 inches, this is larger than we have landed in the past. Most were returned to the lake to be caught again. One of the trout that we kept for dinner was full of eggs. - Mike Burdine

11/15/09
Sunny Side
I went to Sunny Side on Sunday Nov 15th with my friend John. There was 1/2 to 3/4 inch ice at the boat ramp but we managed to get our float tubes in. We were fishing with Panther Martins and Rooster tails. I caught 48 fish with 8 of them over two pounds, John caught 31 fish with 3 of them over two pounds. We brought home 3 fish and released the others. I can't wait to fish the spring when the ice melts off. - Jim Medley

November 11 - 13
Eagle Valley and Echo Canyon
Despite what the reports state about Echo Canyon, we were shocked at the low water (well beneath the rocks on the side of the dam) and with an enormous amount of algae, fishing from shore appeared extremely difficult and we didn’t even try. The folks at Eagle Valley Resort said that the only way to fish Echo was with a boat. Eagle Valley was quite good! Even though we only caught 16 fish (we released two, one under 11 inches and one a very pregnant female) for the three days, they were all over 1 pound (most around a pound and a half) and one was nearly two pounds. The action was slow but when you caught one, they were feisty. It was pretty cold; take plenty of warm weather gear. The small cabin we stayed in at Eagle Valley Resort was excellent! - Rick Cross

11/12/09
Cave Lake
Cave Lake is beautiful. The trout fishing was great. Our group caught and released over 70 rainbows and 3or 4 browns. All the rainbows were
8-14 inches and the biggest brown was 19 long but very slim. Everything works. There’s no single best lure from what I could tell. Spinners, spoons, wooly buggers, any wet flies, trout worms, fake maggots all worked great. The best fishing is in a boat or a float tube in the general vicinity near the dock.

11/02/09
Boulder City Pond
Finally the trout season has arrived. The stocking truck dumped 2800 trout into the pond 2 hours before I arrived. The trout were ravenous. My first cast reeled in a nice 11 inch but thick rainbow. I spent less than 2 hours there and I caught over 32 decent size trout. All on rooster tails and flies placed 2 feet behind some split shot. The trout were hitting pretty much every other cast. There were only 4 other people there fishing and one of the other gentlemen caught over 43. Several large trout but a lot of smaller fish. Everything we threw seemed to work. I only kept one and no more than 10 trout left the pond that day so hopefully the action will continue to be good. Just a hint (classic red devil spoons out fished everything else). - Jordan

11/01/09
Lake Mead
On the weekend of November 1st my fishing partner and I fished Stewarts Point for a total of 55 Stripers with one fish averaging 10 lbs. Most of the fish were taken on 4 inch Storm Swimbaits and Kastmasters jigged off the bottom in about 45 feet of water. Very few fish were caught on top water lures. - Dave Guthmiller, San Bernardino, CA

10/25/09
Wayne E. Kirch Wildlife Management Area
I went fishing at Sunny side on Sunday 10/25/2009 in float tubes with my friend John and my son. We were float tubing in fairly windy conditions. My son was greatly bothered by the wind and got out early. John and I continued to fish for about 5 hours. I caught 11 and so did John. We each caught 3 stockers but the rest of the fish were very nice 1 to 2 lbs. John caught the big fish at 3 1/2 lbs. I used an assortment of spinners from Vibrex to Panther Martins. John used a small (1/8th ounce) holographic spinner. We kept 3 fish for dinner and released the other 19. - Jim Medley

10/19/09
Echo and Eagle Valley
My father and my friend and I went to Echo Thursday night the 8th of October. We fished Echo the morning of the 9th for 4 1/2 hours. I caught 2 Bass and 8 Trout, my father caught 1 Bass and 6 Trout and my friend caught 2 Trout. We fished Eagle Valley 7 hours on Saturday and 3 hours on Sunday. I caught 28 Trout in the morning and 23 Trout in the afternoon. My father caught 24 Trout in the morning and 17 Trout in the afternoon. My friend caught 15 trout in the morning and 11 Trout in the afternoon. We had several fish that were 15 inches. The fishing was much slower on Sunday; we caught a combined total on Sunday of 16 Trout. We kept a total of 15 fish and released the rest. We used an assortment of spinners. - Jim Medley

9/11/09
Lake Mead
My fishing partner and I fished Lake Mead on September 5-7 and found excellent Striper fishing near Stewarts Point in the Overton Arm. Jigging 1/2 oz. silver and gold Kastmasters off the bottom in 35 to 55 feet of water produced 270 stripers in three days. The average size was 1-2 lb. with some fish a little larger to 5 lbs. Some fish seemed to be concentrated near the mouths of coves pushing shad up into the shallows. All fish were successfully released for others to enjoy.

8/19/09
Boulder City Pond
Following last weeks catfish plant the action was decent. By now all of the trout have died off but i managed to catch a lil one while trying a fly with a split shot 3 inches in front under a bobber about 2 feet while trying for sunfish on the edge near the stocking ramp. Cats biting on stinkbait, squid rocks! And hot dogs did OK. Hopefully a good plant on the tenth. -Chuck

7/19/09
Government Wash
Got started early today 4:30 a.m. Gov wash 15' from pipe from the shore. Water was glass for most of the morning, overcast and humid some small boils. Took 6 cats 1-2 lbs and 4 strippers 3@ 1-2lbs 1 @ 5 1/2lbs all off anchovies. The large stripper was the last around 10:45 a.m. The sun broke about 11 a.m. another morning at Gov wash. - Vincenzo D'Angona

6/27/09
Vegas Wash
On the 26 and 27 of June between 5 and 8 p.m. boils encountered in Gov't wash and Vegas wash. All the fish are between 1 to 3 pounds. Spoons and any top water lures works. But the bigger fish are below the boils use kastmaster spoons, throw the lure out and count to 20, then reel the lure back fast. Took my limit on both days. Good Luck!!

6/24/09
Vegas Wash
Just dropping a report on some boils I have encountered in the old Vegas wash and Gov 't wash area.  24 June between 4:30 and 6:30 PM encounter small boils by water pump, 1-2 lbs strippers in this boil, fish hitting on kastmaster spoons and zara spooks.  Took 12 fish this day.  Hope you will have same luck as I have.. Good Luck!!

6/17/09
Government Wash
I usually fish the Boulder Beach/Hemenway areas of Lake Mead during the early morning hours with consistent success but took an afternoon trip only to find the area overrun with a flotilla of jet skis. Discouraged, I drove up to Government Wash and found glass like water dimpling with schools of shad and no jet skis. I launched my float tube armed with both my spinning rod with a 5" white Bass Assassin and fly rod with a 4'' white Clouser. From 4:30 - 5:45 I fished the edges of a dozen or so shad schools without a hit. Just when I thought about throwing in the towel and calling it a day the breeze picked up and the whole wash exploded with striper boils. For the next hour and ten minutes I hauled fish after fish on the Bass Assassin before switching over to the fly rod. Dropping the fly into the middle of several boils brought no fish. I switched my all white red eyed Couser to another with black eyes and I was back into the action and continued to bail fish until the sun went down. My total catch for the evening was 16 stripers and 5 smallmouths all between 1 and 3 lbs. It was another classic Lake Mead striper bite. Can't wait to get back on the water Friday evening.

Boulder Pond
Last Thursday (6/12/09) NDOW did plant catfish in boulder pond at around 8 in the morning. The fishing was slow during the first few hours but after a while the bite picked up a little bit. Around 4 a man 40 yards from me landed a nine pounder!!!! He was using some kind of homemade stink bait made from bread dough and several cut baits and night crawlers left to bake in the sun for a week. NDOW planted some very good sized fish and one man caught six in one hour on night crawlers. Fishing is still good but every day goes by and most people out there catch and release to keep the fishing as good as they can till the next stocking. - Dick

Kirch
Fishing still closed in the bass lake but the trout and small mouth lake( third lake along the road) has been producing some smallmouth and the trout are still there but the water is warming up. the dam on the southern side of the lake is a great place to throw in because the water gets deep fast. caught probably 7 smallmouth and 6 decent trout during a weekend camping trip. smallmouth are hiiting everything.... the fish must be hungry because there was not one lure in my box they wouldnt atleast nibble. the trout and still taking flies and powerbait and spinners. powerworms are killer in these waters. -Jordan

Stewart Point at Lake Mead
I am an avid Nevada fisherman and usually tell the people I work with about my adventures. Several of my coworkers used to razz me about fishing all the time and thought I was just lying to them about my fishing trips. So about a month ago I invited them all to go with me.  Two of my coworkers had never fished before so I loaned them my spare rods and had them get a 1 day license.   We went to Stewart Point at Lake Mead on May 15th. After teaching some basic fishing to the one who had never fished before, we all caught lot small one-to-two pound stripers using anchovies.  Everyone had a blast.  In fact it went so well that the two newbie's both decided that they wanted to go again the following weekend. This time they brought 3 of their friends that had never fished before as well.  We decided to meet up at echo canyon, everyone was caught several trout on Powerbait.  Now they are all hooked and talking about buying tackle and full season licenses. Looks like Nevada has five new Anglers! -Shad Van

6/4/09
Virgin Basin at Lake Mead
Fishing the Virgin basin @ mead near the narrows on sunday night may 31st hitting all the little coves at dusk. Just trolling slow and casting crank baits every third cast with a jointed shad rap caught large mouth, striper and even a couple small cats. As soon as there was no more light it stopped. I went to my new favorite spot and anchored up this time I brought three bags of bait, and in four hours my friend and I caught over 50 stripers. We kept the two largest for fish tacos. Delicious! One was 5lb 8oz the other 7lb 2oz yea he caught the bigger one but I got the first and the mostest.LOL. Both of them were full of crawfish in case you were wondering. Good luck and be safe. -Shawnnie

A truly humble but inspiring day at Boulder City Bond
Boulder city pond is so slooowww for catfish and trout but there are tremendous schools of green and redear sunfish in the weeds near the planting ramp on the widest end of the pond. I was hooking up on every cast and they fight viscously on light tackle. just put a piece of worm on a very small hook a foot or less under a bobber and retrieve slowly but let it sit about 10 seconds after hits water because the fish are hungry and will strike before the bobber has settled. Truly a lot of fun for the kids. My little girls just couldn’t stop and were dying to stay. If that’s what it takes to keep our sport alive then we all need to take our kids out to the local ponds.

Don’t buy her an expensive doll ... take her fishing!

Eagle Valley Reservoir and Echo Canyon Reservoir
My Father and I went fishing at Eagle Valley Reservoir and Echo Canyon Reservoir in our float tubes using spinners on the 22, 23 and the 24 of May. I fished for 6 hours Friday at Echo and caught 23 fish (all Trout). My father caught 28 trout and 1 bass. We fished Eagle Valley on Saturday we fished Eagle valley from 07:00 to 11:15. I caught 19 trout (17" Tiger Trout) My father caught 11 Trout. I switched to an artificial worm and We fished Sunday morning at Echo from 06:45 to 11:20. I caught 17 Trout, 22 Crappie and 11 Bass. My father caught a mix of all three and stopped counting at 29. My dad caught a 19" Bass. Echo has proven to be an outstanding fishery for the last couple of years.

Lake Mead
Launched out of Lake Mead Marina on Sunday. Trolled with a Storm shad and a Rapala X Rap. Caught 3 stripers by the mouth of the marina and two on boulder beach by some boils. Largest was about 5lbs. -Chad

Lake Mead
I went out on Sat. at noon and figured I would try some new spots out. I'm going to tell ya what, I was ripping there lips off! But I first had to find out what they were going to bite. I tried top water, crank baits, jigs, pretty much everything. It wasn't till I started sight fishing in about 10 to 20 ft of water with a drop shot rig. Brown and green roboworm about 20 inches from the bottom. The large mouth could not wait to get into the boat. I was a little hungry so I anchored up in about 30 ft of water threw out some cut sardines with my clicker reel, and before it hit the bottom was catching striper. I couldnt even eat my lunch. About an hour later my one bag of bait was gone so I threw out the the drop shot rig again and started to catch small mouth. I have never caught small mouth out of that lake it was like the perfect fishing day ever. The total was 4 nice large mouth, 5 smallies, 14 stripers and two cats. I launched at callville went through the narrows and fished all the little coves to the right on the upper basin. I could give out the GPS loctaion, but thats my new favorite spot. Good luck and bring the sunscreen I look like a lobster.

05/05/09
33 Hole
I fished at 33 Hole this pass weekend and had a lot of fun. Four small stripers for us and three small channel cats next to us from

03/25/09
Box Car Cove
I just got home from an all nighter at Box Car Cove. The fishing was slow at first then as always the wind picked up at around 6:30 p.m. just as the sun started to dissipate. Then bam just like that we were catching them left and right using anchovies only. Between me my sons and my wife we came out like 30 strippers. The only problem is that u must have a four wheel drive to get there and it’s the second point you can drive right up to the water. - Todd Irwin

03/18/09
Lake Mead
I fished the old Lake Mead marina area over by the rocks next to where the rangers dock their boats. I caught 7 3-5lb stripers in 3 hrs using anchovies as bait. It’s time to fish!!!! (If you have problems keeping you anchovies on your hook wrap a little sewing string around the anchovies) good luck :) - R.Wagge

03/10/09
Lake Mead
I got to temple bar campsite around 6:20 Friday night (3/6/09) and was a little tired so I didn't think that night fishing in a boat sounded fun so I fished off a point on the edge of a small inlet down the coast to the left of hereon point about 300 yards. A slight breeze picked up making it a little chilly but not unbearable. The fishing at night was okay with lots of nibbles and several finicky stripers hammering our anchovies but none going in for the meal. Woke up at 6 and put the boat in the water at 8 and fished the larger and deeper coves one by one to the right of the temple bar harbor/ marina and caught one 2 or 3 pound striper on an anchovy head (easier to keep on the hook and we caught all our fish on head and a half cuts of anchovies (sardines are a softer fleshed bait and are harder for keeping on the hook) just fishing them a foot from the bottom). spent another hour or two without much luck except for a few catfish and carp at the temple bar marina tires(in the middle facing out towards the lake) and moored up against the inside of them. Went out to the second major cove the one known as saw tooth cove or the one with a few small islands in the middle of the cove and caught another 2 or 3 pound striper on the head half of an anchovy. The weather is starting to cool off sending the fish a little deeper but they are there and catchable. I spent 7 hours on the water with only 2 fish in the boat but it was worth it. 7 hours of mediocre fishing is better than 7 hours at school or work any day. -Jordan

02/02/09
Lake Mead
I started my day out of echo bay trolling north to stewards point, I was not having much luck but on my last run I was about 65' deep using a 6" trout swim bait when I hooked a nice striper. The striper was 24" long and 3 lbs. This made a great way to end my day on the lake. - John Dingle, Las Vegas Nevada

01/015/09
Topaz Lake
Topaz Lake is not the lake to be fishing as of right now. I went about a week after opening day and talked to many of the locals. Most of them told me that opening day was great with people catching their limits within a few hours. About 3 days after opening day it was still good, but about a week after the opening on the first it began to slow. I talked to a man named Joe yesterday. He had told me worse news. He says he fishes 4 to 5 days a week and has caught only a few fish this year. He says he has been fishing the lake for 5 years now. This doesn't seem like a long time although 4 or 5 days a week rakes in some good fishing time over five years. I also have fished two days straight and have caught nothing. I have been using spoons to worms to Powerbait to sinkers and floaters and no luck.

01/06/09
Lake Mead
The fish are still biting in Las Vegas bay despite the drop in water temp,we were catching fish all over the bay on the drift using cut anchovies in or around 60 to 70 feet of water. All I can say is the fishing is great right now so get out there! -Ryan W., Las Vegas, NV

12/30/08
Lake Mead

Early in the morning on December 28, my fishing partner and I launched the boat out of Echo Bay and headed north to Stewarts Point to fish for Stripers. We caught and released over 70 nice quality fish in the 5lb class using 1/2 oz gold Kastmasters and Storm Swim Baits fished in 65 feet of water. The fish were also biting on cut anchovies as well. The weather was very cold and there was no top water action to report on trolled lures. - Dave G. - San Bernardino, CA

12/1/08
Echo Canyon Reservoir

I took my friends 11-year-old son out on a float tube at Echo on Nov 22nd and 23rd. We fished a total of 9 hours in the two days. My friends son caught 19 trout on Saturday and 21 trout on Sunday. He caught several fish in the 14 to 15 inch range. I caught 50 trout on Saturday and 29 on Sunday, including one bass that measured 18 inches. - Jim Medley

12/1/08
Virginia Lake

There are some really big rainbow trout coming out of Virginia Lake. Today my brother, my children and I Pulled out some 12" to 14" rainbows. Then out of nowhere my brother and I each caught an 18" to 20" rainbow. Right before we packed up for Thanksgiving dinner I caught a rainbow 26" to 28". We've been fishing there the last few days in a row and have an average of about 16" over four days. We are using corn flavor Powerbait and nightcrawlers. Nightcrawlers are doing the best, with no weights. We are releasing the fish back into the lake. - Skip Baltar

11/12/08
Floyd Lamb State Park Pond

Spent Veterans Day with my son at Floyd Lamb Park. The morning started off slow, but around 9:30 am the bites started to come. Caught our limit , great day! - Dorian Metoyer

10/19/08
Lake Mead

I took the kids out on the boat in the Vegas Wash. We went through a whole bag of anchovies in two hours. All the fish were small but plentiful. Later in the day we went to the other side of the lake and saw a school of stripers that were larger. We weren't near the boat so didn't get to catch any of them. - George

10/3/08
Lake Mead

We went out on Sunday, Sept 28 around 3 p.m. on our boat to fish near Vegas marina. Dropped in 3 lines with Sardines, got a few bites then nothing for a while. Used the fish finder to get the depth. Dropped the line all the way to the bottom 60' and then came up about 1-2 feet. That did the trick. We caught a good sized stripper and then a catfish jumped on just before we were chased off the lake by a huge storm that blew in!! The water was fantastic to swim in with hot and cooler water drifting by. Very refreshing. - Mat Baroudi

9/3/08
Eagle Valley Reservoir / Echo Canyon Reservoir

Fishing was slow at Eagle Valley. I caught 10 fishing two mornings and one afternoon while my friend caught 12. We used an assortment of panther martins and rooster tails from our float tubes.

We decided to try Echo even though the water level is quite low. My friend and I got in the water at 11 a.m. and fished until 1:20 p.m. We both caught 29 fish. It was a mix of crappie, trout and bass. When we came back to Echo in the evening, I caught 44 and my friend caught 46. The day that we left we fished Echo from 8:45 a.m. to 11:43. I caught 47 and my friend caught 53. I went back to fish Echo on 8/24 thru 8/26 and I caught 63 fish in two sessions at the lake. I was told by a local fisherman that the incredible fishing will last for another three weeks. (until the 3rd week of Sept) I used the same Panther Martin exclusively at Echo. - Jim Medley

8/30/08
Lake Mead

Just wanted to thank you for a great fishing report last week. My brother-in-law and I went to lake Mead on Saturday 8-30-08. We fished the tires at Hemingway (10 tires in) with cut anchovies and 6# line. The weather wasn't very nice but in 15-20 minute we had our first hook-up in 30 ft of water. Thought if was a carp, 10 minuets later 20" Catfish. We lost 12 and put 9 in the boat the biggest was 24". We only saw one other boat catching fish. - Toby Chandler

7/31/08
Lake Mead

I went to Lake Mead in May and caught a 20 inch striper using anchovies. I fished on the other side of Cottonwood Cove. We also caught a 22 inch striper in the same area. - Nerses Papazyan

7/28/08
Eagle Valley Reservoir

I went to Eagle Valley on Monday, July 28. We got there around 8:45am. I talked with Dennis at the Big Fish Boat Rentals and found out that the trout were hitting on night crawlers using a bobber. My friend and I used a boat and went to the back area past Copper Point. The trout started hitting on the crawlers at about 9:30am. Also caught some browns that were about 2 lbs each. We had our limit by 12:30 p.m. There is a hugh algae bloom and I'm guessing that the fish just couldn't see the power bait that we started using. No one was catching anything from the dock. I also noticed that nobody at the dock was catching any crawdads. - Randy Brown

Lake Mead
Got a late start and launched from Vegas Bay about 10 a.m., as soon as we rounded Saddle Island and entered the Vegas wash we saw a large striper come out of the water and noticed a few small slurps nearby. We cast topwater plugs a few times with no biters, then we made our way to the end of the wash without seeing anyother fish. - Rick Peter

The water was really off color, green and 87 degrees, as we were heading back out of the wash towards Sand Island we came across a few fish boiling on shad, between sand Island and the 33 hole. This turned into a 30 minute free for all boil with lots of small fish (10 to 12 inches) landed on the silver and black Rapala deep diver, and also on a Chrome 1 ounce Kastmaster, nothing over 2 lbs but lots of fun for a long midday summer boil.

The fish went down as the wind came up, we found one more typical Mead boil that only lasted about 3 minutes, but managed one 3 pounder on a white swimbait.

It was a fun hot day with very little boat or Jet Ski traffic, we were off the lake by 3 p.m.

7/20/08
Echo, Commins Lake, Cave Lake
Just got back from a weeks trip and hit Echo Canyon, Comins and Cave Lake. Echo was low and weedy no one was catching. We had no luck at Comins. The ranger said fish are big but slow fishing and probably better from a boat or float tube. Cave Lake was much better with small trout caught by several people fishing from the shore and one guy in a float tube. - Maury Astley

7/10-14/08
Cave Lake
My wife and I were at Cave Lake and the camping and fishing was excellent. The lake was well stocked and the fish were biting. The best time for fishing was sun up and then again at sun down and from shore using worms. We even got a rain storm, which was wonderful. Can't wait to go back again. - Frank Vallone

7/1-7/08
Kirch WMA, Cave Lake, Comins Lake, and Eagle Valley Reservoir
A friend and I went on a little adventure to several reservoirs. We started at Kirch WMA and the fishing there was good, bass and trout are both biting. Bass are 8-10 inches and trout are around 14 inches. It was hot and windy but the fishing was good. Next we went up north and fished Cave Lake. The fish there are SMALL, 8 inches at best!! We fished Comins as well but nothing was biting too bad it is a nice lake. Then we ended at Eagle Valley. The fishing there was SLOW, the algae is blooming and the temps are up. If you like to bait fish this place gives up 10 inch trout pretty common. Fish with nightcrawler or Powerbait. If you want to lure fish bring a boat and troll. Shore fishing is probably only successful with bait. - J. Delgado

6/27/08
Lake Mead

Fishing on Lake Mead was slow but my wife caught one Channel Catfish in the Overton Arm area, across from Echo Bay. She caught him on shrimp bait and had many bites. I, on the other hand, didn't catch anything. We rented a boat from Echo Bay Resort and got a late start. ~ Lance Harris

Angel Lake
A few friends/Co Workers of mine have been hitting Angel Lake the past few weeks, (the most recent trip was yesterday, 06.15.08). They have been cacthing a lot of fish with a Small Spinner behind a adjustable water bobber while reeling to shore, and also with a simple regular bobber floating a worm on a small hook.

All fish are obviously small (12+ inches or so), but hitting rather well. According to them ,the only ice is a small/medium patch floating ice in the middle...sometimes coming close to shore...(near the dam)...but nothing that they had to contend with.

Water levels are lower then expected, as the small concrete "Cat Walk" as we call it, from the dam, is still above water...This little extended piece of the dam/concrete is usually under water at this time of year...but not now.

Crittenden, although a private facility now, is hit and miss. Two of my friends went out last week, (with permits from the land owner, 06.08.08), fished six hours and caught three fish. They only kept one, measuring 18 Inches...about 1.75 Lbs. They said the weeds are starting to grow and are getting thick in the water...they were in float tubes and and were able to get out past the weeds. They tried spinners, jigs, spoons, etc...nothing seemed to excite the fish too much. The ones that were caught, were caught with spinners. - Don Linninger

Fished around Calville Bay and got five small mouth bass in the boat, approximate weight 2 - 3 pounds each. Saw a large amount of bluegills in creeks south of Calville. - John O'brien

Lahontan Reservoir
A friend and myself went fishing at Lahontan Reservoir, and although the weather had been overcast and a little rainy, it cleared up for a couple hours. We were able to pull in 12 Stripers between 1-2 pounds at a depth of around 25 feet with crankbait and spoons in a matter of 2 hours. - Michael K. Jolly

Lake Mead
Striper fishing in the upper Overton arm was excellent on May 3-4 as the fish are now starting to bite top water lures from Ann Margaret beach down to Stewarts Point. My fishing partner and I caught and released almost 60 stripers in the one to two pound class over the weekend. We also managed to hook a few small mouth bass with the top water lures as well. - Dave G.

Lake Mead
At Hemenway off the fishing dock I caught about 8 striper with the kids; 2 to 4 pounds each using anchovies. I also thought I was catching a big cat fish that took about 20 minutes to haul in, but it was just a big carp. Good fishing just around 4 p.m. to 7p.m. Good Luck everyone.

Eagle Valley Reservoir
Had to send you a note regarding last Sunday's visit to Eagle Valley Reservoir. First let me tell you I am a Las Vegas Native, 45 years young and a recently transformed Fly fisherman. Normally I go to So. Utah and have pretty good success. Trying to find a decent trout fix closer to home, even tho its not, I decided on EVR. I was fishing from my float tube, using a woolie. I quit counting at 16. I'm hooked. Cant wait till my next trip. - Bobby Cleveland

Jakes Reservoir
There is no ice, and a lot of hungry fish that were planted last fall. We made the trip on April 12 2008, and in four hours we caught nine Rainbow trout ranging in sizes from 14 inches up to 18 inches using a simple set up of a worm suspended above the bottom with a bobber.

This early in the year there is no vegetation to fight with, however in a few months shore fisherman will have to combat the huge amount of weeds that will be in the water. Get there now for the best shore fishing, or take a boat later. - Don Lininger

Bilk Creek
Just thought I'd drop a note to let you know how our trip to Bilk Creek went this last Saturday.

We arrived about 7 in the morning and fished until about 11:45 a.m., when the weather turned nasty. Between the two of us we caught 11 rainbows and 1 small bass (catch and release). We fished through about 12" of ice using small jigs with worms from just off the bottom to about mid water. Two of the trout were over 15" and the rest were between 9 and 14 inches, they appeared to be in good shape. It was good to see the larger fish in good condition. The fishing was slow but steady enough to keep us interested. - Gary Frost.
