Directions to southern Nevada waters stocking locations.
HEMENWAY POINT – From Boulder
City, drive south on U.S. 93 and turn north to Lake Mead National
Recreation Area (LMNRA) just before reaching the Hacienda Casino.
About 100 yards past the entrance station to LMNRA, turn right
and head east toward the lake. About 100 feet from the water’s
edge, turn north on the paved road and then turn east just after
reaching the crest of the hill. A long point can be seen from
the crest of the hill. Fish are stocked near the end of that point
on the south side. The road has been graded and is easy to drive
with a passenger vehicle.
BOULDER HARBOR – From Boulder City, drive
south on U.S. 93 and turn north into Lake Mead National Recreation
Area (LMNRA) just before reaching the Hacienda Casino. After entering
LMNRA, continue driving on the Lakeshore Road northward, passing
the Hemenway launch ramp and the Lake Mead Lodge. About a quarter
mile past the lodge, turn right past the rock-walled bathrooms
and follow the road. Look for the fishing pier.
CRAWDAD COVE – From Henderson drive east
on Lake Mead Parkway and pass through the National Park Service
fee station. Almost immediately after leaving the fee station
turn left onto Northshore Road. From Las Vegas drive east on Lake
Mead Boulevard, pass through the fee station and turn left on
Northshore Road. Once on Northshore Road continue east to mile
marker 9, turn right onto Crawdad Cove Road and follow the signs
while keeping to the right at the main fork in the road.
PLACER COVE – From Las Vegas/Henderson,
drive south on U.S. 95 where it branches off from U.S. 93 just
south of Railroad Pass Casino near Boulder City. About 10 miles
south of the turnoff, turn east on State Route 165 to Nelson.
Continue driving through Nelson until Lake Mohave is reached.
At the crest of the hill overlooking Lake Mohave, turn right and
go down the hill to the wash. Cross the wash on the dirt road
and follow it west until it turns up the hill and goes southward.
The Placer Cove turnoff is just beyond the crest of the hill and
goes east.
AZTEC WASH – From Las Vegas/Henderson,
drive south on U.S. 95 where it branches off from U.S. 93 just
south of Railroad Pass Casino near Boulder City. About 10 miles
south of the turnoff, turn east on State Route 165 to Nelson.
At the end of town, the paved road turns sharply to the left where
a dirt road branches off to the right. Take the dirt road and
follow it for about 11 miles, where it reaches Aztec Wash. Please
note that several turnoffs branch out from Aztec Wash Road. Caution
must be taken to stay on the main road because the turnoffs lead
to mines, dead ends or other places. The 11-mile dirt road can
be very hazardous because it is narrow and climbs and drops sharply
in several locations. Additionally, very sharp curves pose hazards
for drivers to use excessive speed on the road.
HOOVER DAM – The Hoover Dam stocking site
will be accessible by boat traffic only. Boaters can launch at
Willow Beach and travel upriver. The canyon upriver from Willow
Beach is closed to motorized vessels on Sunday and Monday year
round. Tuesday through Saturday, between Labor Day and Memorial
Day, this area is zoned semi-primitive. Only boats with motors
of 65 horsepower or less may venture into the canyon during this
time.
WILLOW BEACH, AZ – From Boulder City,
drive south on U.S. 93 crossing Hoover Dam. Fourteen miles past
Hoover Dam, take the turnoff to the west and follow it down hill
for about 4 miles to the water’s edge. Trout are stocked
in the lake at the base of the hill, which is also the area just
below the gas dock at the marina.
