Project Summaries
NDOW staff have been hard at work creating and/or finalizing plans, contracts and acquisitions for projects to be funded by Question 1 monies. NDOW has now evaluated and approved projects for round one and round two. Approved projects listed here are broken down into three categories (enhancements, educational or interpretive projects or acquisitions). Scroll down to view summaries of all projects or go directly to the type of Question One project in which you are most interested.

Enhancement Projects

Many of these proposed enhancement projects were suggested during public scoping meetings held across the state. Those enhancement projects proposed on private or other public lands will be pursued for possible implementation by NDOW only following the development of agreements with the landowner.

This project involves design and permitting activities to expand Comins Lake through dam construction. The Nevada Department of Transportation is a major partner in this project and desires to develop the site for wetlands mitigation. The expanded reservoir will provide enhanced fishing opportunities and will significantly expand habitat for wetland dependent wildlife. |

This project involves the construction of a pipe and trough system on the east bench of the Steptoe Valley WMA. The project will conserve about 400 acre-feet of water annually and provide fenced drinkers for elk, antelope, and sage grouse, as well as provide for stock water obligations. Partners include BLM and NRCS. |

This project involves the acquisition of a 3,318-acre ranch on the north boundary of Jarbidge Wilderness. The property includes portions of Dave Creek, which is critical habitat for bull trout. A $1.0 million grant from the USFWS Recovery Land Acquisition program has been awarded to NDOW to partially fund the project. Project partners include Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation & USFWS. |

Partial funding for the project will come from a grant from the State Lands Q1 program. |
