Sagebrush in Nevada
Sagebrush. It covers more than 60% of Nevada's countryside and it's protein-rich leaves provide essential nutrients and habitat for many Nevada animals.
Mule deer, pronghorn antelope and small game like sage grouse and rabbits nibble on the state flower. Sagebrush provides breeding and nesting grounds for the sage thrasher and sage sparrow. The fragrant desert flower also provides shelter and protection from the elements and predators for critters like the sagebrush lizard, chipmunk, ground squirrel and pygmy rabbit.
