Volunteer Guzzler Build – Bare Mountains

April 29

Help us bring water to wildlife! Join NDOW and the Fraternity of the Desert Bighorn to build two guzzlers. A guzzler is constructed to provide a reliable water source to wildlife. The builds will be in the Bare Mountains, near Beatty. Both builds will be helicopter builds. All participants must be ate least 16 years of age. We will meet at the staging area then be transported via helicopter to the build site. All tools and materials will be provided. Bring plenty of water, food/snacks, and work gloves. Dress in layers, as the weather can be cold in the morning and warm up in the afternoon. Wear comfortable work/hiking boots, layers, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. For more information, contact Michelle Lopez at michelle.lopez@ndow.org or (702) 539-4070.

Driving directions:

Drive north on US 95 out of Las Vegas towards Beatty, NV. Before Beatty, NV you will see a sign for the Beatty airport from this point continue north 1.62 miles on US 95, turn right onto well-traveled dirt road. About 3.5 miles the main road makes a hard left, but you will continue straight up less traveled road toward the historic Fluorine Post office. Signs will be posted at the turn off from US 95 to main dirt road and at the secondary dirt road to staging area. Camping in RV’s would be better suited near the Beatty Pond. This is roughly 1 mile north of the airport road on the left side of US 95.
