Great Basin National Park

Great Basin is one of the least visited parks in the National Park System, but that doesn't make it any less spectactular! From high altitude peaks, to ancient bristlecone pines, to a wonderous cave system, this park has something for everyone!

Great Basin National Park is located just inside the central eastern border of the state. The park boasts diverse habitats ranging from 6,000 feet to over 13,000 feet in elevation at the highest peaks. From the shrublands to the pinyon-juniper forests to the alpine lakes, there is something new to expereince at every turn. Whether you’re scanning the steep slopes for Bighorn Sheep or peeking through the pines for a Clark’s Nutcracker, the diverse habitats offers endless opportunities for wildlife viewing. An abundance of hiking trails allows for exploration throughout the year, and multiple campgrounds are available for overnight adventures. The closest ammenities outside the park are in the small town of Baker. Cell phone service can be unreliable.
