South Fork State Recreation Area

South Fork boasts a beautiful body of water with many recreation and wildlife viewing opportunities! This is a prime spot for fishing and birding. You may even catch a glimpse of a badger in the area!

Located approximately 20 miles from Elko off State Route 228, South Fork State Recreation Area provides ample opportunities for the outdoor adventurer. Wildlife-viewing within the meadows, hills, and shorelines of the recreation area is available year-round. The expansive reservoir provides opportunities for anglers to catch catfish, bass, and trophy-size trout. Camping is provided in varying forms, ranging from primitive to RV hookups. Seasonal water sports and hunting opportunities are also available.
